Lisa says: What do you think of my porch sunset? Good morning everyone, Josh suggested that we chat about this assignment on the wiki. I think it is a great idea - I am not sure if we are supposed to show our collaboration on the discussion board, however, so I will ask Judy. Please make a new page to show your resources today if possible - you do not need to put the resources on yet, but just to get started. My idea was that we each choose a topic to share resources about; for example, I might choose "blogging about books" as that was the blog idea I had for my class. Or you can choose a totally different topic that matches something you are teaching. Or some other idea someone has! Please write your comment in a different colour so it is clear who is talking.
Shanghai morning! It's not fog.
For our topics, one could be "blogging about books", what about PE and tech? Should we aim to cover everything (all subjects), or specialize? I think we should pick something we can actually use ourselves. In my opinion the assignment is about us getting comfortable with using the features of the wiki, and I think it is a great thing to multi-task by learning something specific we can use.
As for using this as a means for communication, we can always delete it when we are done, or keep it as a log to show how we worked together? Happy Thursday (or Wednesday night for most of you). Josh Hi Josh I think we are almost on the opposite sides of the world... so my sunset is your sunrise, right? Love the picture; I assume it is smog if not fog? I give it a 5! Haven't checked in for an answer from Judy yet (procrastinating on tonight's essay!) but will let you know. I love the changes you made! Lisa
Hey Everyone! I wish I had a cool picture to share with you but... I don't! I just added "my" topic page. The links that I added include integrating technology into the classroom and just some great teacher Blogs that I discovered. I guess I do not really have a theme but I labeled my page "Integrating Technology and More". You guys are great! Stacy
Hello walden wiki explorers, I like the idea of having seperate pages. Perhaps there could be one main page of resources like the one Stacy started for integrating technology in general, because isn't that what we are all doing? Then each of us could have a seperate page that addresses our respective specialties; books, pe, special ed, spanish. TLS Hi all I think we could certainly add to each other's pages if we have a great link on the topic...that's collaboration, right? By the way, Judy says she can keep track of our collaboration on the wiki as Josh suggested. Great stuff, everyone! Lisa PS remember we are supposed to be rating too once we put stuff up...
Hi Lisa, in reference to the note from Judy about opening access to this wiki for other wiki groups to view; I tried to do it, but I think as the wiki creator, you are the one with admin access. Hi all, I don't know why, but it won't let me check the public box, or even the read only box. I did figure out how to allow membership requests and have done so. I also invited Judy to join but it says she has not yet done so. I emailed the wiki people to ask for help (I even paid $1 to allow the "upgrade") but have not heard back yet. BTW I tried to find other group's wikis and so far the 2 groups I have tried seem to be in the same boat as us. Will keep trying... sorry! It will certainly be one of the comments I make in the assignment! I found one of the other group's blog that I can access, they must have figured out how to un-restrict access. http://groupthinkwalden.wikispaces.com/
I will try contacting then to see how they did it. So, after half an hour of scratching my head and trying things, I came up with the idea of inviting a bunch of people (I am hoping the walden email addresses are all set up the same way). I did that, and then went BACK to the settings - where lo and behold, I was able to change the setting. Hmmm. I THINK I'm happy it worked - or will be once I get over my snit about the wasted time!~
I would like to say that I am not impressed with the way the end of week three application is panning out. I think our wiki is great, but the part of the assignment where we have to go visit other groups wikis is another story. There should definately have been a place to share wiki urls between groups organized earlier in the week, like we did when sharing our blog urls. Here is group C's url, but they haven't opened access.
I tried searching for group A's wiki based on a title I found in one of their posts "waldentechteam" and came across a wiki that appears to have been created by a previous class.
After that, I am giving up, way too much hassle and frustration to go dig up the other group's wiki urls.
Hi everyone! I think our Wiki looks great! I am in the process of checking out the Wikis of other groups right now. I feel your frustration with the lack of organization on finding the Wikis of other groups. I am spending a lot of time looking through all of their posts on the discussion board. A lot of the resources I have looked up involve integrating technology in the classroom, rather than special education resources. I did not add a special education page because I did not have any resources for it. Instead, I stuck with my integrating technology page. Hope you all had a good weekend! Hi everyone, Great working with you on this wiki. I think our looks good, and I am relieved I finally got it to open. I did (after much digging around) manage to open Group A and Group B's wikis, which also look good. A has a wonderful chart for their rating scale, and added lines between their resources which looks really professional. Group B's had lots of pages, they did a page for each resource and then each of them rated it, which looks really cool. There is actually a place to make a blog in the Walden site (the link is at the side) but I can't see it every time I open the course and only one group used it. I definitely did not notice it when trying to create our wiki! I found the links for the other group's sites by rooting around in their application discussion posts - which I suppose is the same way they would find ours? Although by inviting some people from other groups to become members of our wiki I guess at least they know about it now! Anyway, I am off to write about this assignment. Thanks for all your work! Lisa
Hey Team,
I am having difficulties making my links work. I thought I had followed the instructions properly. Any suggestions?
Josh
